TL: Hello Angelo, thanks for accepting the interview with TiempoLibreSite.com.
First question:  who was Angelo Licata and what has he done in his life before Dark Resurrection?
AL: I was a dentist with a boundless love for cinema, but without any particular desire to become a director. Then Dark Resurrection came.

TL:  Has your life been changed by Dark Resurrection?
AL: Now I have much less spare time, but I am definitely happy to do this work. Devoting  to the design, the screenplay and the direction. I'm becoming found of it, and results are extremely gratifying.

TL: I was amazed by the quality of the movie: costumes, movie soundtracks (including the fantastic final poison roses), a credible screenplay and last but not least the special effects...
Who designed and made the costumes? You have certainly done a research, were you inspired by something that really exists?
AL:
I liked the idea of doing something more medieval than the original Star Wars episodes.
I used the creativity of several artists to preview costumes and scenery. Some things were very clear in my mind and some others have been designed by me.

TL: Were Soundtracks composed for “Dark Resurrection” or did they already exist?
AL:
For the 1st edition of “Dark Resurrection” we used licensed libraries from Machiavelli Music, the part of the original soundtrack was composed by the famous Pivio and Aldo De Scalzi (they did it for free) for  the 2nd episode. Also, another remarkable composer joined us:  Bruno Di Giorgi, who is creating the soundtrack of the whole volume.

TL: I know you wrote the film-script, I congratulate you on your veritable and fascinating story. Have you wrote any script before Dark Resurrection?
AL:
Nothing. Nothing really completed. A huge quantity incomplete.

TL: Where did you find such a great special effect creator?
AL:
Learning a lot of compositing software, I became a specialist… the person who created the 3D effect was Davide Bigazzi, he was already an expert before starting the post production of the first episode. The special effects of the 0 episode are more spectacular and complex, compared to the first one. This upgrade was possible thanks to the collaboration between our production and the Pix Movie Factory: a great team of artists who made imaginary scenes, supernatural creatures and space capsules real.

TL: The actors in your movie are trustworthy and professional in acting, even if it is not their every-day work. How and where did you find them?
AL:
Of course when this project started, we were keen on cinema and we wanted to do it. Our purpose was to pay homage to the fantastic world created by George Lucas.
The only possibility was to select between relatives and friends, but I must say that they prove to be able to play that role and someone strongly surprised me. Then we posted some trailers on the web and a chain reaction triggered. We received a lot of emails from people who wanted to be part of our cast or staff.
So, new figures entered in our staff: professional actors, skill workers, post-production offices and fans. An unbelievable “popular” movement.
Everybody took part in this movie only for having their name impressed into the film and nothing else. Maybe we were pushed by the “FORCE” that everyone has inside and by the love for a type of cinema that wanted to re-emerge also in Italy. Every single element gave us an extra-power and it helped us to get definitely off our project.

TL: At the beginning of the first film, the voice-over says that Sorran was obsessed by the research of Eron and it was guilty of sacrificing the young trainees. Exactly, what did Sorran do? Will the second movie tell off the crime story of Sorran, maybe using a flash-back technique?
AL:  We will go deeply into this part of the story in the prologue of the second movie, a story which explains many secrets of the first episode. In these 25-minute movie we will find out how Sorran was brought to trial by the Council, which circumstances forced him to sacrificed his beginner and pushed him to the Dark Side.
I am sure it will be very interesting  for every fan of Dark Resurrection.

TL: About the “detachment ritual”, which is the effect?
AL: The “detachment ritual” is a penalty given by the Council to the Jedi guilty of heinous crimes: Sorran sacrificed a lot of lives during his innumerable missions for searching the secret of the Eron Temple. The Council also believed shameful and extremely dangerous for the survival that Sorran proclaimed himself the Elect: the person chosen for breaking the seal of the Eron Temple, obtaining the knowledge and becoming the “living force”.

TL: Sorran is the malicious character of the film, but also one of the best actor. Who is in the real life?
AL: He is my father. And when he is not starring Dark Resurrection, he projects security and photovoltaic systems.

TL:
How much did the movie cost? How long did it take?
AL:
Obviously, Dark Resurrection is a non-profit project. We used our spare time and our passion for the cinema. Our engagement was constantly growing during the development of the film: I spent time for the post production.
The zero volume (2nd episode) was completed in 2007: it took two and a half years and 7000 €. The first part has been made using home technologies, but the interest was growing and our fans helped us contributing also economically. We started up a free-venture “Diventa Produttore Associato” (become a producer) on our web site www.darkresurrection.com .
Unbelievable:  Dark Resurrection won the fan’s love and a huge quantity of donations came from all over the world. So we could buy some new equipment and improve several technologies involved.
Now, there is still a lot to do. Our finances are enough to complete the last few shot for the zero part. To complete the movie we have to shoot several scenes of the second part. The equipment, actors, extras, special effects make the second part the most expensive. According to our estimate, the budget necessary to complete the second part is 50000 €.

TL: Watching your movie, I realized the lack of the Italian fiction production. In your opinion, why are not Italian networks interested in a project like Dark Resurrection?
AL:
You should ask that to the person who finances Italian projects! In Italy it is said that Italian people are not able to produce nice-quality films or maybe the Italian audience could appreciate only a specific type of product. This is not true and what is coming proves it.
I am sure the problem is not the lack of talent: in Italy there are serious and well-prepared professionals and they cannot use their skills and they have to move to other countries. Dark Resurrection is the example that we can do a lot of good things. If we have produced this film using such a limited budget, what could we do with a suitable funds?

TL: How long should we wait for the second half of Dark Resurrection?
AL:
The first part should come out in 2010, the remaining part within 2011 because according to someone 2012 could be too late…

TL: Something else for TiempoLibreSite users?
AL:
Just a wish…  MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!
